Fort Worth Museum

On Columbus Day, we went to see The Great Barrier Reef on the Imax at the Ft. Worth Museum.

I intended to stay for about 1 1/2 hours, but after we discovered the museum was attached our time extended to 5 hours. 

It was so jam packed with activities and explorations.

1st exhibit was the hospital.

Next they experienced shopping at the grocery store themselves.

On to the Dino Dig outside.

 

Back inside for another movie, but it's cooler than the Imax. 

We are in the underwater tunnel waiting to go into the 4D movie.

 

Check them out. 

They've got 3D glasses on to watch the movie, they are sitting on movable theater chairs and what you can't see is that in a minute we will get water squirted in our faces and air from a T-Rex blown down our necks.  It was a lot of fun.

 

Moving onto learning about drilling in the earth for natural gas.  Aliana is using a simulator to get her buggy to the exact spot she will start her drilling. 

The platform she's standing on started to vibrate indicating that the drilling she initiated was a success.

 The boys are measuring their vibrations that would be similar to the vibrations for drilling.

 

 

Learning about solar energy and how to power up places around the city using steam, generators, turbines, cooling tanks and so on.

Water exhibit.  They were learning how to shoot the water at the panels to get the generator to move.  Once they figured out how to work as a team, all the panels started to move at the same time.

 

Pumping water to get the water to flow out of the pipes.

 

Last thing that they did was to build a house out of rubber bricks using pulleys and levers and of course TEAM WORK.  There were a lot of kids, but they all worked well together and got the job done...well for about 5 minutes before someone needed to karate kick it (not my troop) ;-)
